With my book launch only a few days away, I was nervous to reveal my work to others. What would everyone think? Was my story about lost soles just a silly, quirky idea? What if no one showed up? I questioned why I was even doing a book launch when a friend called and reminded me to have faith in my story and to believe in who I was a writer. The pep talk cheered me up, but I still had my doubts. Not more than a few minutes after hanging up, I pulled out from the bank and sat waiting for traffic to clear so I could make my turn. I looked up and there in front of me sat a lone sneaker in the median. I couldn’t help but see this as my confirmation to have faith. And on the night of the launch, attendance was high and people gave positive reviews, so all was a success. Turns out, I simply needed a bit of faith—okay, and perhaps a second reminder in the form of a lost sole.
Thanks, Sneaker!
